Rhetorical strageties
Elder Perry's talk during general conference was masterful. He was able to interest his audience in what he was saying by talking about walden pond, and his wife's health and difficulties. He really was able to connect to his audience and establish his ethos when he spoke of the issues in our world today, such as fuel prices. He then compared fuel for our cars with our spiritual fuel, helping the audience make a relation between two things. He appealed to logic by discussing the "simple life," something that is often appealing and saying it could be achieved by following things like nutrition given in the word of wisdom and physical fitness. He was effective in drawing in his audience by beginning with and emotional appeal about his wife, then he interchagebly established his ethos and gave logical answers to his claim.

Way to get on this blog so quick! I like the part about our spiritual fuel - we consistently need to keep our "tanks" full so that we don't risk running low in times of trial. Good observations Jessy:)
